Trigger release fertiliser

NanoSoils Trigger-Release Fertiliser

Responds to the plant, not the clock.

NanoSoils has developed a plastic-free, mineral-based fertiliser that holds nutrients until plant roots call for them. We are looking for partners for evaluation, field trials, scale-up and market access.

Target markets: acid and alkaline soils across the globe.

Why it matters

Fertiliser that runs on the clock, not the crop

Conventional fertilisers release nutrients on contact with water, and depend on temperature and moisture, not when the crop needs them.

IP status: Patent pending. An Australian provisional patent application covers the trigger-release fertiliser.
How it works

Nutrients released on demand

NanoSoils releases nutrients on demand, triggered by the organic acids that roots exude when they need them. The technology is a reformulation of the fertiliser itself. It is made from low-cost, fertiliser-grade raw materials, with no polymers or specialty chemicals.

Where we are

Scale of evidence: All results are laboratory/greenhouse scale; field trials are planned from 2027.

Laboratory tests against commercial fertiliser granules show the release behaviour the design intends. Glasshouse work on canola and wheat has also been completed in a GRDC-funded project. Detailed data, release curves and images are available under NDA.

Ways to work together

Partner with NanoSoils

We are open to evaluation partnerships, co-development, licensing and supply agreements, starting with a joint evaluation under NDA.

Proposed first steps

1

Mutual NDA

2

Technical session on data and integration requirements

3

Joint evaluation on the partner's own product or crop

4

Field trial partnership from 2027
